About CampVerdict
CampVerdict is an independent publisher of off-grid power and RV life guides covering solar generators and portable power, RV rentals, boondocking and free camping, and internet for the road. The goal is simple: help you work out what actually keeps your trip powered, parked and connected, and what is just marketing, before you spend the money.
What we actually cover
The site is organised into four clusters, and each one answers a different question about living or travelling off the grid.
The solar generator guides deal with portable power: what a power station can genuinely run, how to size one from the appliances you own, and where the marketing watt numbers stop matching the physics. The RV rental guides explain what renting, or renting out, a motorhome really costs once fees, insurance and deposits are counted.
The boondocking guides cover free and dispersed camping: where you may legally park, what the landowner's own policy says, and how long a battery bank actually lasts away from hookups. The RV internet guides compare the realistic ways to stay connected on the road, including their caps and coverage limits.
Alongside the written guides we publish working tools and reference tables, such as the "What will it run?" sizing walkthrough and the watts to amps converter, so you can check our arithmetic instead of taking it on faith.
Who writes these guides
Guides are the work of the CampVerdict Editorial Team, our off-grid power and RV desk. CampVerdict’s guides are researched, written and kept current by our in-house off-grid power and RV editorial team, working to the method and evidence shown on every page.
We publish under a team byline rather than an invented persona: no stock-photo "founder", no pen names. What we ask you to trust is the sourcing on the page, which you can check, not a biography, which you could not.
How we stay honest
Every guide states how it was put together and where it stops (see how we evaluate), and every affiliate relationship is disclosed (disclosure). Commissions never decide our picks.
When a brand makes a claim we cannot trace to independent evidence, we say that on the page instead of repeating it, and when someone else's rating is worth quoting, we credit it to them rather than presenting it as our own score.
Some of that honesty is enforced by software rather than good intentions. Every release of this site runs through automated checks before it can publish:
- prices must carry the date they were verified and a stale date stops the release,
- the FAQ text search engines see must match the FAQ text you see word for word,
- and the advertiser list on our disclosure page is generated from the same data file that builds our outbound links, so it cannot quietly go out of date.
How this site is funded
CampVerdict earns affiliate commissions on some outbound links, and that is the only way it makes money: no sponsored posts, no paid placements, no display ads. The disclosure page names every program we are enrolled in. A commission never moves a ranking, and several of our guides recommend options that pay us nothing at all, because that is where the evidence pointed.
